Meet Team Ngorika…
“Greetings!
I am on the move again…literally! On April 24th I will be running the Times Colonist 10K (TC10K). I’ve run it several times in the past, and, as usual, I hope to run a personal best! Perhaps more importantly, though, I am using it as a platform to attempt to raise sponsorships for a children’s home in Kenya.
For the past 12 years, Ngorika Children’s Home has been home to 11 children orphaned by the AIDS crisis in Africa. Many are now in high school and hope to graduate. Some have dreams of post-secondary education such as medical school or accounting. One has achieved a spot in a high quality high school as a result of academic achievement. We would love to see him realize his dream of going on to medical school.
However, funding for NCH has declined in the past few years and the reserve fund has almost dried up. Funding for AIDS orphans is no longer in the spotlight; the news media has moved on. However, these children still need our help to become productive members of Kenyan society.
NCH needs regular sponsors for the children in order to remain operational and for these children to realize their dreams. The NCH Board is asking for your aid. A regular monthly donation will help the most, whether that is $10 or $50… any amount will be greatly appreciated. And of course, you can also make a one-time donation. Either way, you’ll receive a tax-deductible receipt as a reward for your kindness! And, we are happy to be able to say that close to 94% of your pledge actually reaches the Home
To find out more about Ngorika Children’s Home visit their website at www.ngorikachildrenshome.org. And to donate, you can do so on their website by clicking on the “Donate” button in the upper right hand corner of the Home page, then by following the info on the donation page.
Thanks for giving this your thoughtful consideration.
Sincerely,
Jerry Loeb”
